This article describes the enhancements and changes to Mondial which have been included in the March 2023 release (deployed to customers on 03-27-2023).
List of Key Enhancements/Changes
Accounting Adjustments
Two significant changes have been included in this section of the application's functionality. The first is a major improvement to the user experience and the second adds further capacity to the types of data that can be stored.
Translation (CTA)
The page for processing currency translation adjustments has been completely replaced with a new, more intuitive interface which provides users with a snapshot of the status of CTA processing across all companies and periods. The screenshots below provides an example:
Companies that fulfil the requirements for processing are listed on the left. Those which have not been fully set up for CTA process are shown in grey and no action can be taken for these companies. Periods with valid data are shown across the top. Users can select both a period or periods and a company/companies for processing, as shown below.
Using the calculate button, the application will generate the necessary translation adjustments for the selection and create a template journal ready for processing. A new section appears on the page highlighting adjustments that have been created and are awaiting final posting:
The pending journal can be analyzed in detail by selecting a "pending "tag in the bottom section of the page.
Once posted, the the pending flags are removed and the transactions is marked as posted in the top section of the page. (Note: pending transactions can also be optionally deleted using the "clear" button)
Managements Adjustments - Statistical Accounts
Accounts can now be created in the application that are required to store statistical or "non financial" data. For example sales volumes, warehouse sq. footage and headcount.
Statistical accounts can be set up to to be optionally respect a "balancing" transaction set, or allow a non balanced transaction to be entered. They can be set up as:
- Statistical accumulating (balance calculated as a B/S account) eg. Headcount
- Statistical non-accumulating (balance calculated as an I/S account) eg. Sales Volumes
Data can be entered to Statistical accounts using the "management" accounting adjustments. A new flag has been added to the entry screen at header level, to denote that a journal is statistical in nature:
Once the flag is checked, only accounts designated a statistical can be selected during line level entry. Statistical adjustments can also be set up as reversing entries which can be useful for entering specific types of information (headcount numbers for example).
Statistical accounts can be included in report writer rows formats, enriching the information that can now be delivered in management reports.
Report Writer
Column Layouts
- Previously, a calculation column could only incorporate columns added to the left of the calculation column in question. For example a calculation Column C could include Column A + Column B, but not Column D. Algorithms in the Column layout feature have been improved to so that this is no longer the case. In practice this will help where, for example, a user would like a total column as the left-most column on a report, with its constituent parts displayed to the right.
- The column calculation algorithm has been further improved so that a calculation can now include the results of another column calculation. This makes the definition of a number of calculations significantly easier - for example when defining a % variance column
Miscellaneous Fixes
- A number of minor issues identified in the rendering of templated reports and associated drilldowns have been remedied.
- An issue with the report writer, report header formats not propagating correctly to a report display has been fixed
